~ STAYC's famous intro line |
STAYC (Korean: 스테이씨; Japanese: ステイシー) is a South Korean girl group under Highup Entertainment. The group consists of six members: Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon and J. They debuted on November 12, 2020 with the single album "Star To A Young Culture".
Name Etymology
STAYC stands for "Star To A Young Culture". It means that STAYC wants to lead the young culture.
Goal
STAYC's goal is just like their name; they want to grow into a "star that leads the young culture" and to become the "Future of K-pop".[1] STAYC also plans to capture the fans' hearts with their "Teen-Fresh" charms, showing the teenage girls' freshness.

On the same day, the group's first member, Sieun, was revealed.[2] The next day, two more members were announced: Sumin and Seeun.[3][4]
On October 7, it was announced that Black Eyed Pilseung's girl group would consist of six members and was slated to debut sometime in November.[5] On October 12, the group's debuting name was revealed to be STAYC.[6] From October 13 to October 15, prologue teasers were released to introduce the members. 50 days after STAYC's debut, on December 31, 2020, the group announced its official fanclub name to be 'SWITH'. The name, which was chosen from a list of over 1,000 fan-submitted entries, is a combination of STAYC and the word 'WITH', meaning 'together with STAYC' or 'I'll be by STAYC's side.' Moreover, as "SWITH" sounds like the Korean pronunciation of the word "sweet", the name also refers to STAYC's "sweet and lovely" fans.[11]
