Black Eyed Pilseung wrote and composed "Beautiful Monster" alongside Jeon Goon for the lyrics and Flyt for the music, with Rado and Flyt handling the arrangements. The song has been described as "capturing the fear hidden behind the happiness of love". "Beautiful Monster" was written in the key of F-sharp major at a pace of 82 beats per minute.

Prior to the release of We Need Love, STAYC staged a live presentation to introduce the single album and its tracks, including "Beautiful Monster," as well as engage with fans. The trio then appeared on three music shows: Mnet's M Countdown on July 21, KBS's Music Bank on July 22, and MBC's Show! Music Core on July 23.
